Refined Salt (Table Salt) : Contains approximately 99.7% pure sodium chloride (NaCl) . All natural minerals are removed during the manufacturing process, usually with iodine compounds added, such as potassium iodate (KIO₃) or potassium iodide (KI) . May also contain anti-caking agents such as E536 (potassium ferrocyanide) .
Rock Salt : Contains 85–98% NaCl, the remaining portion consists of over 80 trace minerals and trace elements such as calcium (Ca²⁺), magnesium (Mg²⁺), potassium (K⁺), iron (Fe³⁺) . The most important difference is that these minerals were formed through natural geological processes — meaning they are in a more bioavailable form for the body.

Some basic physiological functions of trace elements found in rock salt:
Magnesium (Mg²⁺) : It is a key cofactor in ATP synthesis, nerve conduction, muscle contraction and heart rhythm regulation.
Potassium (K⁺) : Maintains intracellular fluid balance, plays a role in synaptic transmission and heart muscle contractility.
Calcium (Ca²⁺) : Plays a role in cell membrane stability and coagulation factors, as well as bone mineralization.
